  • Mum a Porter Mango sale edit

The weekend edit is here! Jeans, jackets and knits,  a few autumn winter staples all on promotion at Mango! I have put together this edit with the vision of selecting items that can easily be slotted into a capsule wardrobe or alternatively, can help to build one. Mango has really stepped up their game over the past few seasons and should definitely be considered a store to shop when building out your wardrobe. Zara will always be at the forefront of the high street for its ability to emulate runway fashion and bring it to the high street, but if you’re trying to create a more pared back and interchangeable wardrobe then Mango is just as good a contender as the likes of Cos, just at a fraction of the price. I hope you like the edit!

    Jackets and Coats

Bikers: Burgundy // Black // Brown //Double Breasted Blazer // Denim Jacket //Pea coat no longer available, similar one here

Hands up, I have never owned a faux leather jacket, but these just look so good and faux leather just seems to be getting better and better that sometimes I wonder whether it’s even worth paying more for the real thing. If like me, you’ve not ventured into faux leather territory yet and you’re in need of a biker jacket, I would definitely start right here with one of these! They are just so reasonably priced at £29.99 and so well designed, they almost look a little ACNE studios-esq, which is why I love them.

    The Biker Jacket

If you already have a black biker jacket in your wardrobe, then maybe try experimenting with some colour. I am really drawn to the brown leather, I think it can work well with a lot of the season’s trend and can be easily incorporated into my wardrobe. I have a lot of leopard print in my wardrobe, handbags, shoes, shirts and even hair accessories. Brown is a perfect colour to pick up on the tones of leopard print and just a little less predictable than black. Again, there’s a massive seventies revival at the moment and brown really helps to compliment many of those seventies earthy tones like maroon, burgundy and burnt orange. If you already have enough black jackets to suffice, then I wouldn’t shy away from dipping a toe into a slightly less classic coloured biker jacket for this price point.

    The Double Breasted Blazer

If you don’t have a black blazer in your wardrobe or the one you have needs updating, then I would definitely consider a double breasted one. Although the double breasted jacket is on trend at the moment, with women’s double breasted suits popping up all over the high street, a double breasted is a classic and can be worn even when it’s not considered the height of trend. Any blazer is so wearable, with leather trousers out in the evening or in the day with jeans and trainers or even over a full length dress and ankle boots. If like me, your main method of transport is in car, then you will get a lot of wear out of your blazers and I would probably advise in investing more so in a blazer than a full on winter coat. I can tell you, since becoming a mum, I have thus far struggled to find reason to wear my winter coats.

The Denim Jacket – Hear Me Out!

The denim jacket is a bit of an odd one to include, as it’s not a typically autumnal jacket and how well is it going to serve you in the long run? I personally think, again, if you’re out and about mostly in the car and you are a stay at home mum, then a denim jacket can serve you well, especially a long line one. Admittedly you won’t be wearing it in the bleak mid winter unless you layer it up, which denim jackets are so perfect for. Wear it with a pea coat thrown over the shoulders, or layer with a fur gilet over the top and slim knit underneath, come Spring Summer you’ll be thanking yourself for such a trans-seasonal purchase.

Mango Jeans All at 30% Off

Mango Jeans Mum a Porter Edit

    Coated Skinny//CroppedFlares //Full length Flares//Straight Leg//Skinny

These are the jean silhouettes that make up my wardrobe. If you are looking to update your jeans collection then Mango has a really good selection all at 30% off.

    Flared Jeans

Most wardrobes consist of skinny jeans these days, but a flared jean can be an easy way to update your look for the season and for £25.99! Flared jeans lend themselves well to both the western and the seventies trend. Cropped flares and full length flares are both just as good, however you’re likely to get more wear out of a full length pair. They can be worn throughout the day with a heeled western style boot or in the evening with a pair of barely there sandals. I love about wearing flares at current, is that there’s no real stipulation on length and how the flare covers your shoe. I have actually ordered the same jean in two different lengths, just so I can style accordingly with different shoes If you’re looking for a new jean silhouette to alternate your skinny jeans with then the straight leg jean is ideal. Wear with chunky/ugly/dad trainers, or whatever you might call them, with loafers for a more classic look or with a pair of mid-heeled court shoes to slightly dress up a more casual look.

Coated Jeans instead of Leather Trousers

I have included the coated skinny jeans as an alternative to leather trousers and an upgrade to a pair of black skinny jeans. I wear black skinny jeans a lot, casually and with heels. However,  when I am going ‘out out!’ I like to up the ante and wear something just a little bit sexier! Generally a pair of leather trousers are the autumn/winter go to for this.  However, I am yet to find a pair of leather trousers that are really working for me at the moment and whilst on my weight loss journey, I am not really prepared to invest.  Coated jeans on the other hand, are much easier to find a pair that fits and they offer the sturdiness of a pair of jeans, but the streamlined and sleek finish of a pair of leather trousers. For the price of these coated jeans you really can’t go wrong.

    Knit Wear

Black with white // Black // White with Black // Grey // Tricolour // Light Grey

    Statement and Basic

My knit wear collection is sparse, but ninety percent of it comes from Mango. I just find Mango to be reasonably priced when it comes to their knitwear and the quality to be just as reasonable. For basic simple fine knits, sweaters and typical grey marl jumpers to more statement  knits. I am particularly fond of this white one paired with black leather trousers or skirt or even a pair of coated black jeans. When I do wear knit wear, I like to contrast it with a look that is relatively smart as opposed to casual, say worn with jeans and trainers. Unlike most of the items mentioned in this edit, these knits are the only items that don’t necessarily work from day to night. However, the contrast stripe jumpers I have included have quite an elegant look to them and can easily be worn for mid-week drinks or a low key Saturday evening on the town.

    New Knit Additions

Textured pink // Faux fur pink // Cable knit pink // white ribbed v-neck

Textured red // Faux fur black // Jeweled grey // white cable knit

Whatever it is you’re up to this weekend, have a lovely one and shop smart!
